What is the difference between Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel blades?
Carbon steel offers exceptional sharpness and is easy to sharpen but requires regular oiling to prevent rust. Stainless steel (Sandvik 12C27) is highly resistant to corrosion and requires minimal maintenance, making it ideal for kitchen and outdoor use.
How should I care for the wooden handle of my Opinel knife?
To preserve the wood, avoid soaking your knife in water or putting it in the dishwasher. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth and occasionally apply a food-grade mineral oil or beeswax to maintain its luster and prevent cracking.
What is the Virobloc safety ring and how does it work?
The Virobloc is our patented safety mechanism found on most folding knives. It allows you to lock the blade in the open position for safe use and in the closed position for safe transport by simply rotating the stainless steel ring.

Are Opinel knives covered by a warranty?
